What people book a line stander for

  • Restaurants, bakeries and cafés

No-reservation spots, weekend brunch lines, viral bakery drops and first-come tables. Your line stander holds the place and hands it to you when you arrive.

  • Product launches and sneaker drops

Store openings, console and phone launches, limited releases and collaboration drops that sell out to whoever shows up first.

  • Ticket windows and box offices

In-person sales for concerts, comedy shows, sports and same-day rush or lottery lines, when the venue allows a placeholder in the queue.

  • Sample sales and pop-ups

Warehouse and designer sample sales, museum and gallery pop-ups, and any first-come event where the line forms hours before the doors open.

  • Public offices and appointments

Walk-in permit counters, consulates and service offices that let someone hold a spot until you arrive. Some offices require you to be present from the start; check their rules before booking.

  • Anything with a queue you would rather skip

Black Friday doors, brand activations, book signings and city events. If the venue permits handing off a place in line, you can book it here.

How booking a line sitter works

  1. 1

    Tell us where and when

Choose the city, venue and street address, the local start time and how many hours you need (1 to 12, in half hours). We verify that the address is a real place inside the selected city.

  2. 2

    Review the total

The quote shows one number: hours multiplied by $20 USD per hour, fees included. Nothing is charged until you finish Stripe Checkout, and the pay-by deadline is shown before you continue.

  3. 3

    Pay once through Stripe

Payment opens a private, hosted Stripe Checkout page. Paying funds recruitment; it is not yet a confirmed worker. Payments completed later than the notice period are refunded instead of creating a last-minute booking.

  4. 4

    A worker confirms your booking

We recruit from RentAHuman workers in your city and manage acceptance, updates and review. Check the status on this page at any time. If nobody has confirmed by your scheduled start, recruitment stops and the unused payment is refunded to the original card.

  5. 5

Meet your line sitter and take the spot

Your worker sends you an arrival photo, a description of what they are wearing and their place in the line, then updates you at least hourly. You meet them, take their place, and they confirm the handoff.

Transparent pricing

One flat rate of $20 USD per hour in every supported city, with platform fees already included. The total you see at checkout is the total you pay.

Book a line sitter

Get an exact total first. Continuing creates a private Stripe Checkout link; you are charged only when you complete payment there, and your order status is checkable on this page afterwards.

Times are the local time where the line is. Your contact details stay out of the public task listing: they are used for this booking, given to the worker who confirms so they can reach you, and your email is used by Stripe for the receipt and by our support team if you write in.

Estimated total

$40 USD

Fees included. Confirmed on the next step.

Do not include passwords, payment card details or identity documents.

No charge yet. You review the total before any payment link is created.

Your orders in this browser

Each order is protected by a private key stored only in this browser and never shown in a link. Status comes from RentAHuman, not from the Stripe return page.

Lost the key? Email [email protected] with your order ID. An email address alone is not proof that an order is yours.

Questions about paying someone to wait in line

How much does it cost to pay someone to wait in line?
$20 USD per hour, fees included. A two-hour booking is $40 USD and a six-hour booking is $120 USD. The price is the same in every supported city, and you pay only the total shown at checkout.
Where can I book a line sitter?
Online booking with payment is available in New York City, Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto. For another city you can submit a request without payment, then email [email protected] with your order ID so it can be reviewed.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Booking and payment must be completed at least 12 hours before the start time, and up to 30 days ahead. For dates further out, email [email protected].
Is my booking guaranteed once I pay?
No. Payment funds recruitment, and the booking is confirmed when a worker accepts it. You can check confirmation status on this page. If nobody confirms before the scheduled start, recruitment stops and the unused payment is refunded to your original payment method.
Can the line sitter buy the item or ticket for me?
No. The service covers holding a place in line and handing it to you. No purchases, ticket costs, deposits or extra hours are authorized, and the worker will not represent you or use your identity.
What if the venue does not allow line holding?
Only book venues that permit someone else to take a place in line. Workers are instructed to follow venue rules and to report immediately if line holding is prohibited, and such blockers are escalated for a fair payment decision.
How do I find my worker for the handoff?
Before and during the wait your worker sends you a photo of themselves in the line, a description of their clothing and their exact position or a nearby landmark, using the phone number you provide. They update you at least hourly and confirm the handoff in writing.
Can I cancel, or what happens if I arrive early or late?
Email [email protected] with your order ID as soon as plans change. Cancellation and refund outcomes depend on the order's status and on any work already done, so a full refund after a worker has confirmed or started waiting is not promised. If nobody confirms before your scheduled start, the unused payment is refunded. Taking your place early ends the booking at that point; the worker cannot add time, and any extra hours must be booked separately.
How do I check my order later?
Each booking is protected by a private token that is saved in the browser you booked from and never shown in a link. Return to this page in the same browser to see payment, worker confirmation and refund status. If you clear your browser data, email support with your order ID; an email address alone is not proof of ownership.
Can I book from a terminal or from an AI agent?
Yes. The same service is available through the open-source rentahuman-line CLI, and AI agents can post their own bounties through the RentAHuman API and MCP server.

Support and other ways to book

Changes, questions or a lost order key: email [email protected] with your order ID. Prefer the terminal? The same service runs through the open-source rentahuman-line CLI. Building an AI agent that needs someone in a queue? Post your own task through the RentAHuman API and MCP server.
